Teaching
At Goethe University, the compulsory course "Ethics in Economics" is held every semester as part of the Bachelor of Science degree programme. The course consists of a lecture with accompanying mentorships and forms one of the basic modules in the so-called qualification section of the degree programme. It must be completed by all students of economics. In this module, basic competences in business ethics are taught, which are significant in various contexts of economic thinking and action and also come into play at the interfaces of business, politics and society.
Continuing and supplementing the compulsory course "Ethics in Economics" (BWET), seminars (modules with a seminar-like character) are offered as "General Elective Modules" in the qualification section. These courses each deal with a specific issue in business ethics.
The consecutive continuation in the Master's degree takes place - depending on the degree programme - in the form of compulsory elective courses. Here, specific business ethics topics of the respective degree programme are dealt with in greater depth. In addition, business ethics issues are also addressed and discussed in the specialised business courses.
